The Wadhwani Foundation Samar caravan composed of Mr. Cris Delgado, Regional Manager in Southeast Asia and Ms. Angelica Añabeza, Senior associate, both of Wadhwani foundation, recently visited Samar State University on May 10. The caravan aimed to facilitate collaboration and motivate faculty members to actively participate in the Foundation’s initiatives, all geared towards fostering economic empowerment and sustainable development within the region.
The visitors were personally welcomed at the office of the President by the university President Dr. Redentor Palencia who has expressed excitement of the entrepreneurial benefits it would bring to the university and to Samar following the foundation’s motto of “Creating jobs, transforming lives” which is aligned to university’s role as a transformative university.
Prior to their visit, on May 9 a zoom meeting was set up where it was attended by the Dean of the College of Engineering, Engr. Meddy Mangaring, Dean of College of Arts and Sciences, Dr. Florabelle Patosa, Dean of the College of Education, Dr. Laura Boller and Dean of College of Industrial Technology, Prof. Ronnie Velasco, two faculty members from the CIT, Prof. Rebecca Pascual and Christine Joy Dacallos-Mendoza, and two entrepreneurship BSIT students together with the staff of International affairs headed by the Director, Dr. Elmer Irene. The online meeting kicked off with the welcoming remarks from the University President Dr. Palencia, delivered by the Dean of the College of Education, Dr. Boller. Following this, Mr. Cris Delgado provided a brief overview of the Wadhwani Foundation, offering insights into its mission and objectives. He further elaborated on the Foundation’s technopreneurship platform, sparking enthusiasm among the participants from SSU.
In an exciting announcement, Mr. Cris revealed that SSU faculty and students would receive a complimentary access to the Foundation’s 14-week online entrepreneurship program, offering them valuable resources and opportunities for skill development.
This caravan holds great promise for fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and sustainable development in the community.
