The Internationalization of Higher Education necessitates a functional office to cater to the growing demands for international mobility for faculty and students alike. Hence, the office of International Affairs (OIAs) of Samar State University (SSU) was established on October 8, 2018 and a new Director was appointed through SSU-BOR Resolution no. 73 series of 2018. The OIAs is housed at the SSU Executive house building and under the direct supervision of the University President. Its function include but not limited to:
- Coordinates the academic exchange and cooperation programs for faculty and students with their partner universities abroad;
- Coordinates and communicates in forging linkages with another academic institutions or organizations for mutual benefit;
- Assists faculty and students for their international visits, travels and collaborative work with their partner academic institutions or organizations;
- Facilitates international visits to Samar State University and arranges program for the short-term visit;
- Helps the university in obtaining funding for the international education programs; and
- Establishes linkages with other educational institutions of higher education for faculty and students’ exchanges.
At present, there are more than 20 academic institutions worldwide where SSU has engaged and signed agreements with. The office is headed by the Director, Dr. Elmer Irene and can be reached through email, messenger, line or through landline.
