SSU Strengthens Global Ties at the 13th ATU-Net Board Meeting in Hanoi, Vietnam

Samar State University (SSU), represented by Dr. Elmer A. Irene, Director for International Affairs, reaffirmed its commitment to global engagement through its participation in the 13th ATU-Net Board Meeting at Phenikaa University in Hanoi, Vietnam, held on October 31, 2025. Traveling to Hanoi with the goal of strengthening SSU’s international presence, Dr. Irene carried the shared hope of expanding the University’s connections within a community that continues to shape regional collaboration in higher education.

Upon arrival, the warmth and professionalism of the ATU-Net Secretariat and Phenikaa University staff immediately set a welcoming atmosphere. Delegates were guided through the campus, where modern laboratories, vibrant research spaces, and innovation-driven facilities highlighted how universities across the region are responding to global academic challenges. This firsthand exposure was both inspiring and relatable, offering ideas that resonate with SSU’s aspirations. A cultural visit to Hanoi’s traditional silk industry added a meaningful personal touch, reminding delegates of the rich heritage that underpins international partnerships.

The board meeting itself, led by the Vice-Chancellor of Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, centered on reviewing the network’s achievements, financial standing, and plans for 2026. One of the most impactful moments was the Consortium Collaboration Agreement Exchange Ceremony, which symbolized the continued trust and shared commitment among member universities. Throughout the discussions, Dr. Irene ensured that SSU’s interests were well-represented, expressing support for ATU-Net’s programs and initiating conversations that could lead to future research collaborations and mobility opportunities.

As the engagement concluded, the experience reinforced how essential global partnerships are to SSU’s growth. Beyond the reports and formal agreements, the connections built and the conversations shared affirmed the University’s place in a network committed to innovation, cooperation, and academic excellence. The trip strengthened SSU’s resolve to stay active in international initiatives and to keep opening doors for students, faculty, and researchers.
