SSU, represented by Engr. Meddy S. Mangaring, Dean of the College of Engineering, took part in the 2024 Global Industry-Academic Forum hosted by Vision College of Jeonju, South Korea. This four-day event, held from January 23-26, 2024, served as a platform to enhance cooperation between industries and academia, with a specific focus on fostering international exchange programs geared towards innovations in new and renewable energy.
The inaugural day of the forum featured a campus tour of Vision College of Jeonju, providing the delegates with valuable insights into the host institution’s facilities and academic environment. The following day, Engr. Meddy showcased the Renewable Energy Education Plan of Samar State University. This comprehensive plan underscores SSU’s dedication to advancing education and research in the dynamic field of renewable energy. The presentation highlighted not only the innovative aspects of the plan but also SSU’s commitment to playing a pivotal role in shaping the future of sustainable energy.
The highlight of the third day of the forum was a visit to the Saemangeum Floating Solar Power Plant, organized under the supervision of Vision College officials. This excursion provided the delegates with a firsthand look at cutting-edge technologies in the renewable energy sector, reinforcing the importance of practical exposure in shaping future initiatives.
As the forum concluded on its last day, the guests were treated to a tour of Seoul, offering an opportunity for cultural exchange and networking among participants.
