Dr. Leslie Elisa S. Cobilla of Southern Leyte State University (SLSU) paid visit to the Office of International Affairs (OIAs) of Samar State University (SSU) on October 13, 2025, to talk about Collaborative Online International Learning Network (COIN) and formalize SSU’s membership in the network.
Dr. Cobilla was warmly welcomed by Dr. Elmer A. Irene, Director for International Affairs, and Mr. Jake D. Carbonquillo, Director for University Quality Assurance. During the meeting, they discussed the key features of COIN and its potential contributions to the SSU community, particularly in promoting international academic collaboration and innovation in education and research.
COIN, grounded in the principles of Collaborative Online International Learning (COIL), is a global platform that encourages academic collaboration through virtual exchanges and shared online learning environments. Its mission is to cultivate intercultural competence, promote global engagement, and inspire innovation in teaching and learning. Notably, COIL was co-founded by Tra Vinh University and SLSU through the leadership of their respective heads.
SSU has demonstrated its commitment to this partnership by actively taking part in virtual COIL activities, reaffirming its dedication to providing transformative international learning opportunities for its students and faculty. This milestone not only strengthens SSU’s global academic linkages but also marks a significant step toward realizing its vision of becoming a university without borders.
