SSU Concludes Buwan ng ASEAN 2025 with Pagkilala at Pagdiriwang

Samar State University (SSU) brought its Buwan ng ASEAN 2025 celebration to a vibrant close with the Pagkilala at Pagdiriwang (Closing and Awarding Ceremony) held on August 29, 2025, at the Convention Center.

The program opened with preliminaries, followed by the inspiring message of Dr. Elmer A. Irene, Director for International Affairs, who underscored the importance of unity in diversity and applauded the active participation of students in the ASEAN activities. Adding color to the celebration, the SSU Rondalla Ensemble captivated the audience with a lively cultural presentation.

The highlight of the event was the recognition of winners and participants from the ASEAN Quiz Bowl & Map Challenge and the ASEAN Debate 2025. In the Quiz Bowl & Map Challenge, Joshua A. Aying and Steven Marion O. Jaromay of the College of Education claimed first place, followed by Fiel Clarette R. Tongol and John Miles C. Villarante of the College of Arts and Sciences in second place, and Marjorie O. Tan and Jerson H. Lapura, also from CAS, in third. Meanwhile, in the ASEAN Debate, the College of Education team of Marlon A. Baldago, Kyle A. Quiniñez, and Dan Johann T. Maribojoc captured first place, with the College of Arts and Sciences team in second, and the College of Industrial Technology team in third.

In his closing remarks, Prof. Jhonil Bajado, Faculty Regent, commended the organizers, participants, and winners for making the celebration both meaningful and successful.

More than just a ceremony, Pagkilala at Pagdiriwang stood as a celebration of excellence, culture, and shared identity, reflecting SSU’s commitment to fostering ASEAN awareness and the spirit of unity in diversity.
