Bacolod City – Prof. Pedro Cabrales, the SSU Coordinator for International Student Exchange, attended a seminar organized by the Commission on Higher Education’s (CHED) International Affairs Service (IAS) from September 20 to 22, 2023, in Bacolod City.
The event, titled “Guidelines and Assessments of Foreign Travel by SUC Personnel,” was aimed at enhancing the capacity of SUCs in evaluating and facilitating foreign travel for their staff and faculty. The ultimate goal is to expedite processes, making the travel assessment and preparation procedures more efficient and productive.
The seminar, hosted by CHED’s IAS, brought together representatives from various SUCs across the Visayas. It focused on providing participants with updated guidelines and insights into assessing foreign travel requests, ensuring that they align with CHED’s standards and objectives.
One of the key outcomes of the seminar is the proposed revision of the IAS Clearance procedure. If implemented, this revision promises to simplify and expedite the assessment and preparation of foreign travel requests by SUC personnel. This streamlined process is expected to bring significant benefits, not only for the institutions but also for individual staff and faculty members seeking international travel opportunities.
The seminar’s attendees left Bacolod City equipped with valuable insights and tools to facilitate international travel assessments within their respective institutions. With the proposed revisions to the IAS Clearance procedure, SUCs can look forward to a more efficient and productive approach to assessing and preparing for foreign travel opportunities, ultimately advancing the internationalization efforts of Philippine Higher Education Institutions.
