April 27, 2023

Exploring career paths in the global market is essential for students who are looking to pursue a successful career in the 21st century. With the world becoming increasingly interconnected, students must be aware of the opportunities available to them in the international job market.

On April 26, 2023, SSU’s New College of Arts and Sciences Audio-Visual Center (CAS AVC) was the venue of the International Career Advising Program with the topic “Exploring Career Paths in the Global Market”. The event was graced by guest speakers from Empire International Education and Visa Services, namely Education Counselor-Philippines Mr. Herbert Buena, Ms. Czarelle Gay Fabregaras, and Mr. Mike Jay Isanan. Campus France-Philippines was also represented by Mr. Jehan Paulo Udani.

The event was attended by one hundred fifty (150) participants, comprising of faculty from the main and Paranas campuses and graduating students from different colleges. They were welcomed by Engr. Ma. Lourdes Amante, Vice President for Student Affairs and Services, on behalf of University President Dr. Marilyn Cardoso. Mr. Pedro Cabrales, Coordinator for International Student Exchange, introduced the guest speakers.

The guest speakers discussed the importance of exploring career paths in the global market, and how it can open up opportunities and experiences that would not be available in a traditional job market. They shared information about the various career paths available in the global market both in France and Australia.  They tackled the various benefits of pursuing an international career, such as gaining knowledge and skills that are valuable in the global workplace, the potential for personal growth and becoming a productive citizen as well as acquiring permanent residency. Additionally, they spoke about the qualifications and other requirements needed to pursue these paths, as well as the various education and visa services offered by Empire International Education and Visa Services and the varied scholarships posed by Campus France.

The open forum moderated by Dr. Mae Canal, Director for Student Welfare and Development Services, allowed the participants to ask questions and clarify any issues they had concerning the topic. The event ended with a short message from Dr. Elmer Irene, Director for International Affairs.

The International Career Advising Program was a great opportunity for the participants to gain insights into the various career paths in the global market, particularly France and Australia, and to learn more about the qualifications and other requirements needed to pursue them. This will help the students make informed decisions about their future career plans.
