On March 27, 2023, officials from Tra Vinh University in Vietnam and Samar State University gathered together to plant trees as part of a joint collaboration and initiative to promote environmental awareness and sustainability.
The event held outside SSU New Academic Building was attended by Tra Vinh University Vice Rector Assoc. Prof. Dr. Diep Thanh Tung, Director of International Education Institute Dr. Phung Van De, Head of International Collaboration Office Ms. Nguyen Thi Mai Khanh, Vice Head of International Collaboration Office Dr. Chau Thi Hoang Hoa, Director of Center of Learning Resources and Innovation Dr. Tieu Thanh Thuy, and Samar State University President Dr. Marilyn Cardoso, Vice President for Administration and Finance Dr. Gina Espano, Director for International Affairs Dr. Elmer Irene, Executive Director for Research Dr. Sherrie Ann Labid, Planning Management Officer Engr. Rodrigo Estrada, Head of Museum and Archives/ Faculty Regent Mr. Jhonil Bajado, Director of Publication Dr. Redentor Palancia, and Assistant Professor Dr. Ariel Mabansag. Both university officials expressed their commitment to environmental protection and sustainability, emphasizing the importance of preserving natural resources for the future.
TVU officials Assoc. Prof. Dr. Diep Thanh Tung, Dr. Phung Van De, and SSU president Dr. Marilyn Cardoso planted a Taluto. The tree was chosen for their ecological benefits and importance to the local environment. The activity was part of a larger environmental initiative to restore and protect the local ecosystem and promote environmental awareness among the students and staff of the university.
The tree planting activity was a success which symbolizes the beginning of the partnership between the two universities. The activity is part of a larger effort to promote global understanding and cooperation between universities around the world.
The efforts of Tra Vinh University and Samar State University are a testament to the importance of environmental protection and sustainability. It is hoped that other universities will follow their lead and join the effort to create a more sustainable future.
