With Samar State University’s continued efforts in internationalization, the Graduate School conducts a one-day seminar entitled Future-proofing SSU Graduate Faculty and Students aimed towards having the skills to thrive in a more complex global stage. The seminar involved doctoral (PhD-TM, PhD-EM and DM) and masteral (MAT and MAED) students who attended the seminar in-person while others on online mode. This is the first on-site seminar conducted by the Graduate school at SSU when the university opens up for in-person activities after the pandemic.
Leading the activity at SSU New Academic Building AVR on December 3 (22), are Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso-University President, Dr. Felisa E. Gomba-Vice President for Academic Affairs and concurrent Dean of the Graduate School, Dr. Elmer A. Irene-Director for International Affairs, Dr. Nathalie Ann A. Acosta-Graduate School Secretary, and with the support of the Graduate Faculty and staff. Resource speakers who are invited to the seminar are Prof. Nathan Tran, Business Development and Marketing Manager, International Partnerships and Recruitment of Mohawk College Canada, Prof. Durairaj Govindasamy, Managing Director of Portsworld Academy Malaysia, and Prof. Dr. John Arul Phillips, Dean, School of Education and Cognitive Sciences, Asia e University in Malaysia. Among the three, only Prof. Durairaj attended the event in-person while the other two presented their topics via Zoom.
SSU Graduate School faculty and students are delighted to listen to the resource speakers in which Prof. Tran discussed about Internationalization of Higher Education through International Partnerships and Collaboration, Prof. Govindasamy on The International Students Mobility, Study Tour, Internships and Exchange, and Prof. Dr. Phillips on Global Research Trends in Higher Education with focus on educational technology.
This activity focuses on the internationalization of higher education and the connections and implications that internationalization has for skills mobility, research and academic cooperation. Internationalization is one of the most important developments that globalization has brought to higher education worldwide.
