SSU Benchmarking Activity on BiPSU’s QS Stars Rating Application

The Samar State University conducted benchmarking activity on Biliran Province State University’s QS Stars Rating Application held on September 14, 2022, at OP Convergence Room. The SSU Director for International Affairs Dr. Elmer A. Irene and his team Ms. Marichu C. Nablo, Ms. Rhea A. Parroco, Mr. Ariel N. Abarratigue, and Mr. Mark Brian G. Quemaño together with the Documentation Officer Mr. Brian Manicani were welcomed by the BiPSU’s key officials, led by the university president Dr. Victor C. Cañezo, Jr. In his welcome address, he proudly highlights ”𝐁𝐞𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐒𝐚𝐦𝐚𝐫 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐞 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐢𝐬 𝐣𝐮𝐬𝐭 𝐥𝐢𝐤𝐞 𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐧𝐨𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫 𝐐𝐒 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐬. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐲 𝐞𝐬𝐬𝐞𝐧𝐜𝐞 𝐨𝐟 𝐠𝐞𝐭𝐭𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐐𝐒 𝐒𝐭𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐫𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐠𝐧𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐛𝐞 𝐚𝐛𝐥𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞. 𝐈𝐟 𝐢𝐭 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐛𝐞 𝐬𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐞𝐝 𝐭𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐰𝐢𝐥𝐥 𝐛𝐞 𝐧𝐨 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐚𝐜𝐭. 𝐖𝐢𝐭𝐡 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭, 𝐰𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐥𝐝 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐰𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐥𝐲 𝐬𝐞𝐫𝐯𝐞 𝐭𝐡𝐞 𝐩𝐮𝐫𝐩𝐨𝐬𝐞.” The Director of the Institutional Planning Office Mr. Joedel O. Peñaranda pointed out in his rationale and testimonials that the support system from the top management of the university is highly essential in getting the target stars. The university is proud to be among the 21 universities in the country and second in the region to be rated three (3) QS Stars by Quacquarelli Symonds (QS) Stars Rating System. The Science Research Assistant Ms. Danica A. Ybañez briefly discussed the application process while Engr. Jessie Marie D. Cerera, the Planning Assistant tackled the QS Stars criteria. After the initial talks, there were questions and answers between SSU benchmarking team and the BiPSU team moderated by Dr. Maribel Zipagan, the university’s International Affairs Director and recently appointed as Dean of the College of Education. They also prepared a surprise quiz for Dr. Elmer Irene’s team and they perfectly got five (5) stars. The activity ends with a social gathering for SSU and BipSU teams where the two (2) universities build an outstanding bond and established a remarkable connection.
