The Vice President for Research of Cebu Technological University Dr. Adrian P. Ybañez conducted an orientation on QS Stars Rating at Samar State University Convention center on April 26, 2022 which was participated in by the University President, the four Vice Presidents, Deans of different colleges, Directors of key units or departments which will provide data or contribute to attainment of QS targets. Prior to that day, he already had a consultation with the Director of International Affairs together with his team in the morning and were able to meet and greet with SSU Researchers in the afternoon. He complimented the high ceilings of SSU’s Research and Innovation Center and the Convention center, and the chance of achieving the QS Stars because of the creation of the core group who will focus on the indicators. Basing it from the budget allocation on research and extension as well as the number of students population, he assured SSU has the chance to earn QS stars rating.
During the orientation the very active University President Dr. Marilyn D. Cardoso showed her deepest appreciation to the distinguished expert Dr. Adrian P. Ybañez as the resource speaker and consultant for SSU’s upcoming application for QS Stars Rating. Dr. Ybañez gave the training orientation by starting with the QS Stars Mentality. He emphasized that “Do not proceed to initiate QS recognition unless the University is willing to change.” He shared the proceedings the CTU did when they applied for QS. He proceeded with his very informative presentation. The different dimensions assigned to its respective category, were tackled in details as to each indicator and equivalent points. He gave suggestions on what, whom, how, and where to dig pertinent documents relative to every level. Remaining time were allotted for the team to convene, to finalize and strategize the assigned work and continued the following day through group chat in Messenger. The QS group members were happy to be assured of the forms and assistance in gathering the documents needed.
The orientation ended with everyone having a more vivid understanding of their respective assigned task and were very eager to start digging and complying the required documents for the purposes of SSU’s application for QS Stars Rating.
