On March 19, 2025, Mr. Ariel N. Abarratigue, Acting International Student Exchange Coordinator of Samar State University (SSU), represented the university at the “Internationalizing Higher Education: Strengthening Links between France and Philippine HEIs Networking Event.” The event was hosted by the Embassy of France to the Philippines and Micronesia at Alliance Française de Manille in Makati.

With approximately 70 participants from public and private higher education institutions (HEIs) across the Philippines, the event served as a platform for universities to connect, explore potential collaborations, and strengthen their networks.

The gathering kicked off with an informal networking session over coffee and light refreshments, where representatives exchanged ideas, discussed possible partnerships, and shared business cards. The event provided the participants an opportunity to network and take part in the roundtable discussion on French-Philippine cooperation on Higher Education with sessions on sharing good practices and a discussion about the upcoming “Europian Association for International Education (EAIE) Conference 2025 in Gothenburg, Sweden, a major event in the global academic community.

Reflecting on the event, Mr. Abarratigue emphasized its significance, especially for universities like SSU that are actively expanding their international partnerships. “This networking event is a great step forward for HEIs like SSU, as we aim to build stronger global connections. Participating in the EAIE Conference 2025 will open even more opportunities for SSU in terms of internationalization,” he stated.
